Hello, all! Got another pupper from Pets in the Park day at Glasgow Park. This pup really stopped me in my tracks because of his size, and piercing blue eyes!
Meet Apollo, the Border Collie/Great Pyrenees Mix!
Apollo's owners, Kevin and Brenda got him when he was just 3 months old! He's about 9 months now and he's not done growing (he's currently around 80 lbs at just 9 months).
They got him from a rescue called, "PA caring for K-9" in Pennsylvania. The rescue basically fosters dogs, and they had Apollo's littermates as well. They weren't really seeking Apollo's exotic breed when they were searching for a dog, but wanted a bigger dog and by looking at this pup and how striking he is it's easy to see why they landed on him.
Kevin and Brenda told me that Apollo LOVES other animals, and loves coming to the dog park to run around.
At home, they also have a cat that gets along great with Apollo:
"We have a cat, and we got them around the same time, so they're around the same age and they play a lot. It's funny though, because when we first got Apollo, he wasn't that much bigger than the cat—but now he's huge and when they play, Apollo basically puts the entire cat in his mouth. The cat is constantly soaked in saliva."
When I asked if the cat likes playing with Apollo, they said, "The cat is actually the one who instigates it! The cat swats him and they chase each other…"
Apollo also really enjoys playing and eating the cat's toys, along with eating, "anything plastic that's crunchy, like wrappers, etc. He throws a tantrum if we try to take them away."
PS- I know the pups look really crazy (and maybe a little angry) in some of these shots, but I promise they were having so much fun with each other! :)
Name: Apollo
Favorite Foods: Loves peanut butter, human foods, and apples
Silly Sleeper: "He sleeps really funny. I think everything he does is funny, because he's kind of a wierdo. He's really clumsy—he falls off the couch a lot, he thinks he's tiny. He'll sleep in my bed until I fall asleep, then he sleeps on the floor. But in the morning when he sees I'm awake, he'll jump back up and wake me up by biting at me, or sitting on my head."
