Hello, all! Welcome to Dog Park Diaries. Just wanted to do a little explaining about what you'll come to see on this little blog :)
First off, let me tell you a little about me!
My name is Carly Marshiano, and I'm a graphic designer and photographer currently residing in Wilmington, DE. In my free time I love running, drawing in sketchbooks and on my new Ipad, horseback riding at a farm by my house, and shooting pictures on my Canon Rebel and iPhone.
But one of my FAVORITE things to do is volunteering at animal shelters to walk the dogs. I did it almost all throughout my years Marist College at the Dutchess County SPCA, and I now volunteer locally in Delaware at the Delaware Humane Association.
While at the Dutchess County SPCA, I worked on a project called, Give Me Shelter that started during my senior year—you can learn a little more about that project on my personal website here. The project was essentially a coffee table book photographed during my weekly walks at the DCSPCA of different shelter dogs. Alongside the photos, I documented their personalities and backstories. There is a lot of negative stigma about shelter dogs, and I was hoping to shed light on the fact that many of these dogs end up in shelters for reasons against their control.
And even though the project is over now, fast forward to today—I still really love learning every dog's backstory, whether it's at the Delaware Humane Association walking shelter dogs or even just around the corner at our local dog park in Wilmington.
I wanted to create a fun blog that documents my adventures learning about dogs big and small, their backstories, and their owners favorite things about them. Funny, exciting, sad, or life changing, I love seeing how dogs change our lives everyday, and connect us together!
So if that sounds good to you, come follow me on my weekly adventures! :)
